Reißkofel - avvicinamento da Egg via Comptonhütte
Following the signposts that guide hikers uphill across the meadow, you reach the idyllic Comptonhütte at an altitude of 1,585 metres, the base camp for the summit ascent, in just under 2 hours on a well-marked hiking trail. Even though the friendly hut hosts and the good pastries invite you to stay a little longer, it is advisable to continue the Gifpel ascent soon and only take a longer break on your return.
The ascent from the Comptonhütte to the summit takes around 2 to 2.5 hours. The Padiauersteig trail is well developed and does not present any major difficulties until shortly before the Köfeletörl at 2,129 metres above sea level, although it is quite strenuous in places. More difficult passages are secured with steel steps and steel ropes. For the final ascent to Köfeletörl, you sometimes have to put your hands on the rock. You now reach the south side of the mountain and there is a short phase to recover before you climb through a rocky and partly scree-covered, wide gully. At its upper end, you reach the ridge, which is sharp in places and which you now follow to the summit (2,371 m).
The descent follows the ascent route. A short detour from Köfeletörl to the Kleiner Reißkofel (2,158 m) with easy climbing is well worthwhile!
