Rovine di Khünburg 839 m sopra il sentiero Jägersteig

The ruins of Khünburg Castle stand on a rocky outcrop 839 metres above sea level below the Spitzegel.

First mentioned in 1189 as the property of Count Pero de Kinburch. From the 13th century, it was owned by the diocese of Bamberg and was pledged to Duke Henry of Carinthia in 1311. After a fire in 1540, the castle fell into disrepair.

The keep, which can be climbed in the summer months and offers a fantastic view, large parts of the ring wall, which is up to 8 metres high, and the ground floor wall of a residential building are well preserved.
