Indicazioni

Starting in Hermagor towards Tröpolach, the route leads onto the Nassfeld (Passo Pramollo, 1,552 m altitude), past Carinthia’s largest ski resort to Pontebba (Italy). Continue through the scenic Vald’Aupa in the direction of Moggio and Tolmezzo. When you’ve got over the somewhat confusing roundabout in Tolmezzo, head towards Ampezzo and turn right to Sauris. Here, follow the very narrow, winding road with partly unlit tunnels along the Lumi Gorge up to Sauris at 1,400 m altitude (the highest located municipality in the Friuli region). Sauris is a linguistic enclave where the people speak a type of German in their everyday lives. The first inhabitants came in the mid 12th century from some border valleys between Tyrol and Carinthia, and this is how the language that still exists today has developed. A well known delicacyf rom Sauris is the prosciutto, mildly smoked and seasoned with mountain herbs. There are lovely restaurants along the route. Further on to the mountain pass, over the Sella di Razzo (Razzosattel), and at the end of the mountain pass to the right in the direction of Prato and Comeglians to Paluzza. The route then continues towards Timau over the well-developed Plöckenpass at 1,360 m and as far as Kötschach-Mauthen. From there, continue north, over the Gailberg Pass to Oberdrauburg. Here, turn right; the rest of the route runs through the Upper Drau Valley towards Greifenburg-Weissensee and over the Kreuzberg Pass (1,077 m) back to Hermagor.
