To the Hochwipfel (2,195 m) via the Rattendorfer Alm

The Hochwipfel (2,195 m) rises to the west of the Rattendorfer Alm. The hike leads above the tree line to this beautiful panoramic mountain overlooking the entire Gailtal valley, which is slightly in front of the Carnic main ridge.
The descent can also be made via the Rattendorfer Riegelalm as a circular route.

Propozycja

The Rattendorfer Alm produces "Gailtaler Almkäse", a typical regional delicacy that is produced on a total of 13 alpine pastures in the Gailtal valley.

Wskazówki

From the Rattendorfer Alm, head south-west and follow trail 417 towards the wooden church and the so-called Zanklhütte (approx. ¾ h). You hike across alpine pastures past the so-called ring wall - the name is based on the rock formations - northwards, through a very varied landscape to the state border. From there, head north over a grassy, partly rocky ridge to the summit, which is reached after around 2 hours. Very nice view. Return as for the ascent. If you have walked to the Rattendorfer Alm, you can descend from the summit to the Riegelalm and then reach the Rattendorfer Almweg from there.
