Promising and lonely royal stage high above Friuli and along relics from the 1st World War
In front of the Zollnersee Hut, the path marked KHW 403 leads west directly to the Oberen Bischofalm. Between the alpine hut and the stable building you cross the square and follow the wide alpine path after a short descent in a few serpentines slightly ascending past rocks up to a large basin under the northern falls of the Hohe Trieb. On the descent along the alpine pasture path, after a few hairpin bends, you will come to an unmissable turnoff. On a well-marked narrow path you cross the ridge and enter another basin, in the middle of which you turn left towards Kronhofer Törl.
After a short ascent you reach the state border and follow the old military road to the alpine road, which leads you steeply up to the Cra. Pramosio alta. After three steep serpentines you will reach the Promoser Lake at the foot of steep rock faces. Between the old stable building and the freely accessible bivouac hut, a narrow path leads in several hairpin bends steeply up to Promoser Törl. After reaching the highest point, you descend towards the Tischlwanger Törl and past a dilapidated war building to Cra. Pal Grande di sopra and further down to Cra. Pal Grande di sotto. From there, follow the path through a beech forest, past the Freikofel and uphill again to the Freikofel saddle.
Now the path leads downhill to the forest path into the Angerbach valley and following it to the former Gasthof Plöckenhaus. Here you cross the main road between Plöckenpass and Kötschach-Mauthen. Passing the Cellon Lake, you climb up to the Theresienhöhe and after a short time you reach the Untere Valentinalm.
