Sonnenalpe Nassfeld - Winkelalm (1470 m)

The hike takes us past the Nassfeldsee lake, through mountain forests to the Italian Winkelalm. The idyllic alpine pasture is the starting point for hikes to the Malurch and through the Winkel valley to the mighty Rosskofel.

Predlog

A beautiful log forest and a romantic meadow are crossed at the Winkelalm, where interesting wetland vegetation can be observed.

Oprema

Hiking boots are recommended but not required.

Usmeritve

From the Nassfeld Pass, we hike southwards along the promenade path west of the Nassfeldsee lake. A short stretch to the left on the dam and then we follow the signpost "Winkelalm" across wetland biotopes and rockfall forest - very romantic, crossing small streams, heading south-west. After reaching the forest path just behind the former barracks, we head slightly uphill to the right, past prominent rocks, until we reach the Winkelalm, which lies in a clearing. From here we could climb up to the Malurch or towards the Winkelscharte on the Rosskofel / via ferrata. It would also be possible to hike towards Austria and Madritsche, some of which are quite steep. Today, however, we walk back along path 433 towards the former barracks and from there along Nassfeldstraße to the starting point.
