Directions

From Berggasthof Presslauer, we take trail no. 6, ascending towards Kreuther Höhe, 1440 m, via trail no. 7. Then we turn westwards and descend to the so-called Durchspring 1310 m, a saddle that allows us to descend towards Weißbriach. We follow the signposts for Schimanberger Alm - or Hochwarter Höhe across the alpine meadow to the left and hike along path 6 to the Schimanberger Alm, about ½ hour from the Durchspring. We then ascend, always on trail no. 6, and after approx. 40 minutes reach the Schimanberger Höhe with its magnificent views. If you still feel like it, you can continue to the Hochenwarter Alm and then continue on trail 13 - marked red-white and blue-white - along small ponds (except in dry weather) to the Hochenwarter Höhe. In early summer there are many gentians here. Walking time to the Schimanberger Alm approx. 2.5 hours, from there to the Hochwarter Höhe approx. 1 ¼ hours. If you don't want to go that far, there are beautiful views of the valley soon after the Durchspring and from the Schimanberger Alm.
