Directions
From the A2 south motorway, take the Hermagor exit and continue on the B111 to Hermagor. At the entrance to Hermagor, approx. 400 metres after the OMV petrol station, you will find the train station on the left-hand side, where parking spaces are also available.

Directions

We walk from Hermagor railway station in a W direction to the roundabout and turn left into Egger Straße, cross the railway line and walk along Egger Straße to the road maintenance depot. Before the village sign, turn left onto path no. 5 to the edge of the forest in an easterly direction. Immediately afterwards we branch off towards Paßriach, path no. 71. Soon beautiful views of the village of Egg with Khünegg Castle open up.

Through mixed forest and across meadows, after crossing a road, we reach the Jank vlg. Lipl, Götzing 4, where we can buy Gailtal specialities. We continue eastwards through a varied landscape and after about half an hour we can already see the reed beds of Lake Pressegger See shimmering through the trees. We come to an asphalt road in the area of the village of Passriach, cross it and walk northwards through the reed belt of the lake, path no. 73. After reaching the village of Presseggen, we turn eastwards to the bus stop or continue to the railway station and return to Hermagor (=> this option is shown graphically on the map and corresponds to the dates given).

Option 1 : At the junction with path 71, we walk along the forest road towards Obervellach. Blackberry bushes cover the ground of the spruce-fir mixed forest. This route is also suitable for pushchairs. After approx. 2 km, we take the forest path branching off to the right, path no. 72 towards Egg. Slightly uphill and after a short descent (beautiful view of the Carnic Alps), turn left and follow trail no. 71 - as above.

Variant 2: In wet conditions on the tarmac cycle path R 3 through Burger Moos to before Untervellach, do not continue northwards there, but head south across the meadow (signpost!) to path no. 72 and then continue as described.
