Directions
From Villach:
From the A2 south motorway, take the Hermagor exit and continue on the B111 to Hermagor. At the roundabout take the 2nd exit and cross Hermagor in the direction of Kötschach Mauthen. Follow the main road to Tröpolach, turn right at the bridge and drive to Tröpolach and cross it in the direction of Nassfeld. Drive onto the Nassfeld and park at the border crossing.

Directions

We walk from the Nassfeld Pass in the direction of the Watschiger Alm past the church to Gasthof Plattner, where trail 403 branches off in the direction of Garnitzentörl. We reach this in around 1 hour and descend westwards past the snowmaking pond (beautiful view of the rugged south side of the Gartnerkofel) to the Garnitzenalm mountain hut. The path leads from the alpine pasture almost flat southwards to the next mountain cut at the state border. From here, it is a good idea to turn left and walk half an hour to the Kronalm, whose summit platform offers extensive views and beautiful vegetation. Descend from the Törl or the Kronalm to the Ofenalm (Malga For), with beautiful views of the Rosskofel. From the Ofenalm we hike on trail 504 with a short descent and ascent to the Auernigalm, past it and back to Nassfeld. Part of the route is also a mountain bike tour.
