Ronda Sagran

A panoramic hike over several peaks in the border region between Austria and Italy. The history of the people of this valley is present.
Suggestion
In front of us are the western Julier mountains, a breathtaking view. A view of the beautiful Gailtail is also an experience.
Equipment
Hiking equipment, sturdy shoes recommended, rain and wind clothing obligatory
Directions
In Uggowitz (Ugovizza) we leave the SS 13 before the Torrente Uqua (town centre) and turn into the Valle Ugovizza. Continue into the valley on a tarmac road (without turning off) to the Osteria del Camoscio.

Directions

After the Osteria del Camoscio (1136 m), turn north-west on a track (first tarmac, then gravel) along the river (Torrente Tamer), past the Agritourismo Rosic, uphill, then cross a bridge (over the T. Tamer) and follow the wide path, which is sometimes steep (concrete) and then more pleasant, up to an altitude of 1536 m (turn-off to the ex Villaggio Cocco). From there, a footpath winds its way across broad alpine pastures towards the Kok (Mt. Cocco). We walk to the saddle (1814 m) and then climb up to the summit (1941 m) on the left. We return to the saddle and continue to the Schönwipfel (Cima Bella, 1911 m) to the north. We are now in the border area between Austria and Italy. We turn eastwards and follow the border trail down to the Kalten-Brunner-Scharte (Forc. die Fontana Fredda, 1693 m). Now the ascent to the Sagranberg (Mt. Sagran, 1922 m) begins again. The path is a little wider at first and then becomes a path that leads to the summit of the Sagranberg. At the summit, we turn northwards, where we can already see the nearby Starhand. Via the northern slope we reach the Carnic High Trail no. 403, which runs northwards over the ridge. Shortly afterwards, we turn towards a rock face, pass underneath it and take a short stony path to the summit of the Starhand (1968 m). On the way back we come out of the forest and can turn southwards back onto the nearby Carnic High Trail no. 403 (shortcut directly across the meadow down into the valley). You can also take the path back and join the Carnic High Trail directly at an altitude of 1866 metres. Follow this path in an easterly direction to the Zollhütte, cross the Dolinza stream and turn south again after the Starhand inn on the Dolinza-Alm. Here we cross the Lomsattel (Sella di Lom) on the border with Italy. On a rough gravel path we only have a short distance to the Refugio Nordio Deffar (new hut) at 1406 metres. We follow this path out of the valley (Val Uqua) until we get back to the starting point, our car park. Approx. 200 metres after the Rif. Nordio Deffar, after the bridge, an old path leads through the forest into the valley. Otherwise you can use the goods road. Before the old location of the Rif. Nordio Deffar, both options lead together. Be sure to stop off at the Osteria del Camoscio!
