Zuchengraben - Waterfall

The stream over the Zuchen waterfall only flows when the snow melts or after heavy rainfall, when the channel that the water has dug into the rock is a thin, long stream. However, the rock formation is impressive at any time of year. The last section of the route is almost like an easy climb.
Suggestion
The vegetation along the hiking trail is specially adapted to dry soils and is very interesting to observe.
Equipment
Normal hiking equipment with good footwear.
Directions
From Villach:
From the A2 south motorway, take the Hermagor exit and continue on the B111 to Presseggen, at Presseggen turn left at the large junction (monument, turning lane) through Presseggen, over the level crossing to the bathing area furthest to the west (Hermagor lido), which is located by the railway station.

From Hermagor:
Take the B111 towards Villach, after approx. 2 km turn right at Obervellach over the railway crossing and follow the main road to Presseggen. Park at the first pool on the right-hand side (Hermagor lido, large car park).

Directions

From the Alpe-Adria-Hotel we walk towards the railway line or from the railway station in an easterly direction, cross the railway in a northerly direction and stay on path no. 16. We walk through the forest past a spring - fountain - above the Schluga lake campsite in a northerly direction. We reach hiking trail no. 53 and after approx. 20 minutes on very rough ground we reach the interesting rock formation of the Zuchen waterfall, which only carries water when the snow melts or there is heavy rainfall.

The way back is the same as the ascent.
