In 2004, the full-blooded farmer Heimo Oberauner took over the farm, which has been in the family since the 17th century, from his uncle. Looking for alternatives, he started with a potato field the size of a quarter of a hectare at the Zerza Farm. Today he grows more than 20 different and unusual potato varieties on an area ten times as large. His love of potatoes is one of several agricultural mainstays on which he builds his farm, and thus focusing on sustainability. He feeds his rejected potatoes to his Mangaliza pigs, which in turn provide tasty, high-quality meat, completing the sustainable cycle at Zerza Farm. In addition to cattle and pig farming, he is also experimenting with the cultivation of other crops. The fruit from the meadow orchard is also processed into fine distillates, among other things. You can buy the delicious products at the farm shop, which is open around the clock.
