Directions

From the A2 south motorway, take the Hermagor exit and continue on the B111 to Hermagor. Cross Hermagor and continue straight on at the roundabout (2nd exit). At the Öamtc, turn left towards Möderndorf and then follow the EggerAlm road. On the way you will pass the beginning of the Garnitzenklamm gorge.

We leave the car at the car park in front of the Egger Alm and hike 10 minutes along the road to the Almdorf. From there we head south-east on path no. 483 in half an hour to the Schlosshüttensattel (1453 m), the border with Italy. Here we turn left towards the east and climb steeply uphill in a forest aisle. After about 1 hour we leave the forest behind us and enjoy a marvellous view, which increases towards the summit. After a good 2 - 2 1/2 hours in total, we have reached the summit. On a clear day you can see the Großglockner. The descent is eastwards to the Poludnigalm, 1710 metres. From the Poludnigalm via path 483 to the Dellacher Alm and from there along the road or south of the Egger Almsee lake back to the starting point. There are also possible variants on the descent - see signposts - but these are not Alpine Club trails.
